Eye Surgery

Audrey was born with a clogged tear duct in her left eye. This is common for babies, but Audrey's never cleared up. We took her to a pediatric opthamologist last spring and he said the only way to fix it would be surgery. So, after putting it off for awhile, we booked her surgery for October 21st. She had to have general anesthesia and we wanted to wait until she was a little older (they wanted to do it when she was 12 months old). We had to be at the surgery center at 6:30 am for pre-op and her surgery was at 7:30. The procedure only took 15 minutes and we were back with Audrey in post-op when she woke up at 8:00. It took a little over an hour to get the anesthesia out of her system. She screamed and cried and was inconsolable. But, the nurses said that she did better than most her age do!! She was back at daycare today (Thursday). The surgery is amazing. It has immediate results and there are no bruises or anything!

Seeing that little girl in the hospital garb melts my heart. Such a sweet and innocent look on her face:)
